Anniversary, Shmanniversary

If you know anything about Jake and I, then you know that writing a whole sappy blog about our “perfect” marriage isn’t going to happen until at least year 15. =) I did marry my best friend, and it has been a wonderful whirlwind of two years. No lies there! Sometimes two years feels more like ten, while other times if feels like we are still newlyweds!  It has been a blast!

So in honor of today, I thought it’d be more appropriate to tell the world what I have learned over the past two years as Mr. Jake Reeves’ wife.

1. If he falls asleep on the couch, just leave him. Trying to wake him up only makes things worse.

2. He says he isn’t picky when it comes to food, but he really wishes you would have put shredded cheese on that instead of sliced cheese.

3. Stock up on zours and hide them all throughout the house. You’ll be glad you did.

4. When he comes home from work, let him sit in silence for a good 15 minutes before you ask how his day went.

5. Forcing him to take a picture with you never really makes a ‘good’ picture. Let it come naturally.

6. Try not to give Digby (the dog) too much affection. Jake needs love too.

7. Expect Jake to ask for a midnight snack as soon as your head hits the pillow, every time. Don’t try to stall or ask if he’d like something. Just lay down knowing you will have to get right back up and get him his bedtime chocolate milk.

10. Whenever you get upset with Jake, just except the fact that you never really get to be truly upset with him. He uses Jedi mind tricks and you will come crawling back to him every time.

11. He will only eat Mexican food when you can’t join in. The rest of the time, he wants Chinese…

12. Don’t get too involved in a project while Jake is taking a shower. Once he’s done, he will call your name ever so innocently and ask to get him a towel that he somehow always for gets to grab beforehand.

13. When it’s time to go, expect Jake to be catching up on Yahoo’s current events for another five minutes past go time.

14. Compliment his mustache often.

15. Even if he is actively running the opposite direction as you, make sure to tackle him down and give him a hug and a big smooch before he leaves for the day =)

Our marriage is no where near perfect, but it has been such blessing. I have a wonderful husband with a ridiculous sense of humor, and there is always something new to add to this list. He makes life full and I wouldn’t change it for anything!

Happy two years to us!
